Lead the team that keeps fresh food moving
Join Bidfresh as a Transport Supervisor in Woolwich and lead a team of Multi-Drop Van Drivers, helping them deliver a safe, efficient and reliable service. Working closely with the Transport Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day transport operation, giving your team clear direction and making sure they understand their responsibilities and the standards expected.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead by example, support your drivers and keep the operation running smoothly when priorities change. From organising cover for holidays and absence to stepping in with deliveries when needed, you'll balance the needs of your team with a strong focus on customer service, safety and transport efficiency.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and support your drivers, setting clear priorities and service standards.
- Organise drivers and equipment to keep daily deliveries running smoothly.
- Lead by example, helping your team follow safety rules and transport regulations.
- Work with the transport team to keep vehicles safe, serviced and up to date with MOTs.
- Keep equipment in good working order and arrange prompt repairs when needed.
- Look after company vehicles, delivery equipment and uniforms to help control costs.
- Work with colleagues and customers to resolve delivery issues and keep everyone informed.
What we're looking for
- A hands-on leadership approach, with the ability to give clear direction, support colleagues and lead by example
- Experience in transport, delivery or a similar operational environment, ideally with responsibility for coordinating or supervising a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to explain expectations and resolve day-to-day issues
- A full UK driving licence for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and a willingness to support deliveries and safe manual handling when needed
- Strong organisational skills and a practical approach to managing changing priorities, driver cover and delivery requirements
- A commitment to safe working, vehicle compliance and maintaining high standards across the team
