Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Freezer Assistant to help manage operations in our freezer department. This hands-on role is key to ensuring the smooth running of order picking, stock control, and compliance with food safety and health and safety standards. You’ll support the buying process and help maintain our high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the freezer area.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety (H&S) and food safety regulations, including BRC standards.
  • Support the picking team, including training and daily oversight.
  • Load and unload vehicles as required on a fork lift truck
  • Pick customer orders as needed to meet delivery schedules.
  • Carry out regular and accurate stock takes.
  • Assist in learning and supporting the buying process.
  • Flexibly respond to business needs, including occasional shift adjustments.
  • Act as night fire marshal and, in time, complete a First Aid course (FA).
  • Cover holidays as necessary.

Working Hours

  • Typical Hours:
    • Monday to Friday of 9 hours (6am - 3pm) (including a 30-minute break)
    • Holiday cover may be required.

Training & Development

  • Full training will be provided.
  • Opportunities to pursue formal management and HR training will be supported.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Previous experience in food, freezer, or warehouse environments is an advantage.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Committed to high standards of cleanliness, tidiness, safety, and order accuracy.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to business needs.
  • Forklift Licence preferred, training can be provided.
